Homer Alaska Salmon Fishing: Winter Kings

Homer Alaska salmon fishing is great all year round! Winter kings are in Cook Inlet year round. Spend between 6- to 8 hours trolling for kings while enjoying the stunning views and sealife of Kachemak Bay. During the summer we target king and silver salmon on our combo, multi-species and overnight trips. We have a heated cabin, so if you fish during the colder season you’ll be able to stay nice and cozy. Be sure to have your king salmon stamp purchased before heading out for your trip.

If salmon isn’t the only fish you’re after, we also offer halibut and salmon fishing trips where you can get the best of the tastiest saltwater fish.

Salmon fishing trips are available on either the 6-angler F/V Double Down or the F/V Game Changer for larger groups up to 12 guests. Big Dan’s Fishing can book you with other guests wanting to experience the best saltwater salmon fishing in Homer. If your party is wanting an exclusive experience, check out our private excursions option so you can have the boat to yourselves! We provide options to suit every situation.

We also offer river fishing trips for salmon on the Kenai and Kasilof River and we welcome you to stay with us in your private cabin at our river front lodge.

Alaska State Fishing Regulations

You must purchase the required Alaska Fishing License before embarking on our Homer fishing trips. In Alaska, a license is required to participate in sport, commercial, and personal use fishing; and sport fish guiding or hunting guiding. Licenses are available for residents, non-residents, members of the military, and residents who are Disabled Veterans or who are age 60 or older. Most licenses, as well as a king salmon stamp, can be purchased online or you can find them at local retailers.
