Our Cabins
All of our Kenai River lodge cabins are recently refreshed, featuring new paint and bedding. Each cabin is private and includes its own kitchen facilities and restrooms so you and your party can enjoy your stay with privacy.
Each cabin has the comfort of home with a cozy living room, a 52” flat screen television w/ cable, full kitchen, and spacious bedrooms. Every cabin also includes a charcoal BBQ grill and a private freezer to store all of your fish. Guests will have access to private riverfront fishing. Fishing rods and nets will be available for use, as well as a convenient cleaning station with filet knives. Vacuum sealing is available on site for an extra charge.
We have five private cabins; Bear’s Den, Fish’n Hole, Wild Alaska, Moose Tracks, and The Perch.
3 Bedrooms
The 3-bedroom cabins each have 2 twin size beds in each room. In two of the rooms, the twin beds can be converted into king size beds, if requested. There is also one pull out couch. Sleeps up to 7 guests.
2 Bedrooms
The 2-bedroom cabins each have a queen size bed in one room and 3 twin beds in the second bedroom. The second room can be converted into a king size bed if requested. There is also one pull out couch. Sleeps up to 5 guests.
1 Bedroom
Our new one-bedroom unit has a full kitchen with an open living and dining area, full bath, and a separate bedroom with two queen beds. Everything is new and stylishly appointed.

Big Dan’s Fishing Charters is excited to add our Kenai River lodge to the list of adventure services we provide. Formerly Smokin’ Joe’s Lodge, Big Dan’s Riverfront Lodge is conveniently located 2 miles from the center of Soldotna, Alaska. We look forward to continuing the great service that Smokin’ Joe’s had provided over the last 30 years to all new and returning visitors. We will do our best to ensure that everyone who stays with us has a memorable experience with our Kenai river lodge.
Enjoy the endless days fishing the river right from our fishing platforms or wading the river right out front. We provide. Soak in the view from our incredible deck and fire pit overlooking the Kenai River. Bring your meals out to the deck and watch for wildlife that might make a showing around the property. During the evening you can share fish stories and enjoy the company of others around the large fire pit.
Sarah, Big Dan’s better half, will welcome you upon arrival to show you around and help get you settled in. If you are scheduling a special package, your itinerary will be ready for you at the time of check in. We own and live right here. We will be here when you arrive and all during your stay, ready to assist you in any way we can.
