Homer Fishing Regulations
These regulations reflect current guidelines, but all anglers should consult the Alaska Department of Fish and Game‘s website for the most current information.
Each angler on a chartered fishing trip in our management area may keep 2 halibut per day: one halibut of any size and one halibut 27 inches or under. Halibut retention on charter boats is prohibited on all Wednesdays throughout the season, and on Tuesdays from June 2 through August 25, 2026. This is a change from 2025, when both Tuesdays and Wednesdays were closed all season.
The rockfish limit is 3 per day, 6 in possession. Of those, only 1 per day and 2 in possession may be nonpelagic rockfish. Yelloweye rockfish may not be retained from May 27 through June 30, 2026, by emergency order. The lingcod season opens July 1. Lingcod limits vary by area fished and are based on current ADF&G regulations.
Pre purchase your required Alaska Fishing License before embarking on our Homer fishing trips. In Alaska, a license is required to participate in sport, commercial, and personal use fishing; and sport fish guiding or hunting guiding. Licenses are available for residents, non-residents, members of the military, and residents who are Disabled Veterans or who are age 60 or older. Most licenses, as well as a halibut or king salmon stamp, can be purchased online or you can find them at local retailers.
