Big Dan and his crew gave us an amazing day fishing! Although there was questionable forecasts and they didn’t know if we should go out, they thoroughly read the weather prediction and, knowing their fishing grounds so well, they made a well informed decision, thereby gaving us the best fishing trip we could’ve asked for! We all caught all our limits on everything before the wind got bad enough to force us back. Not to mention they have the best boats and equipment that we saw in Homer. We left behind everyone else, but beat all of them out. If you want to go fishing with the best charter in Alaska, you will be going with Big Dan and his crew!

You want to experience all that the Kenai Peninsula has to offer? Big Dan’s should be at the top of your very short list! The Cabin and lodge setting were great, clean, convenient. Sarah’s assistance and communication was top notch from initial contact all the way through our stay. Even set us up with a great processor to safely get our delicious bounty home still frozen. We spent day 1 halibut fishing in Seward, and Captain Jordan and deckhand Jaden were rockstars! Their expertise and excitement really made the day an incredible one. Drifted the beautiful Kasilof for sockeye day 2. The fly-out trip across the inlet was as memorable as any of it on day 3. And no trip to the Peninsula can be had without more halibut outta Homer. Capt Billy put us on the fish and filled the boat so quickly, we even got a bonus stop to check out the coolest little town of Seldovia to add further to our unrivaled trip. This was a Grad/18th bday trip for my son, myself, and dad. 3 generations on a bucket list trip facilitated by the amazing, complete team of Big Dan’s!! I hope to return soon and you should too! Thanks again for providing unforgettable memories Sarah, Dan, Jordan, Billy and everyone else!

Best fishing charter experience! My recent trip on the big and beautiful F/V Double Down with Captain Dan and his crew Garrett and Aaron exceeded all expectations! I was impressed starting with their introduction and serious attention to safety on the boat. They have really paid close attention to details to make this a luxury, very fun, and hardcore fishing experience! He even made mention to enjoy reeling in fish and don’t rush the process, enjoy the moment which I think most times is forgotten under pressure. The boat was spotless clean, the bunks, bedding and even the pillows were so comfortable, and the food they provided was delicious. Their fish tagging system was the best I’ve seen giving you a color coded bracelet (also a fun souvenir with the boat name) matched to colored zip ties so there was no issues with who’s fish was who’s….genius! The crew was very attentive to every fisherman on the boat getting bait and helping land every fish They were very entertaining and great hosts. They kept things fun and had us laughing and smiling the whole time. Captain Dan knows his trade….he could read the tides, wind, and fishing rods better than I ever could’ve imagined! He predicted so many things and then they would happen, he is just very skilled and knowledgeable. Every detail has been thought out to make this fishing experience the best it can possibly be in the industry. We went out overnight and caught big fish and more fish given we had double limits being able to fish for two days. I always had a positive booking experience when calling and talking to Sarah, she was very helpful and informative. This local Alaskan couple has really created something special and authentic! Big Dan’s is now highly recommended by this Homer local…worth every penny!

Beautiful lodge on the Kenai River. Amenities include a gorgeous patio and deck with a fishing platform where you can fish and enjoy the views and wildlife. Watch them leap into the air while you fish. Highly recommend. Community room with washer and dryer with a cute shop and processing station. Sara is a wonderful host and will make sure you are taken care of. Watched a moose walk right by our cabin and drink from the canal. Love this place!

Would give 10 stars if possible! Capt. Dan and crew gave us a fishing trip of a lifetime. Leading up to our adventure, Sarah handled my questions and phone calls with ease. Day of the trip we arrived to the state of the art “Game Changer”. Nicest vessel leaving port that day. The crew was professional, helpful and most of all fun!! They had Homer processing show up to the dock to get our fish and today we arrived home with 90 pounds of Halibut filets! Appreciate you guys a ton!!
THANK YOU! We had the best time fishing on the DoubleDown on Friday with Big Dan and his crew! We all hit our limits and brought some cod home, too! We also stopped by the cabins and swag shop in Soldotna on our way out of town and had the best conversation with Dan’s wife! Thanks again for the great adventure in Homer !
Great trip. Blackjack out of Seward was unbelievable. They were safe, got us on the fish and the boat was in tiptop shape. The gear was all dialed and from the moment we left to the moment we got back to the dock, we had a great time! Limits on multiple species, highly recommended!!!!!
I was looking for some fun fishing while on a business trip to Alaska and I’m so glad called Bid Dan’s. Sarah was the best host at the cabin and the salmon fishing on the river was the most fun fishing I’ve ever experienced. We had a blast at a great price in the wild of Alaska. Highly recommend to all and I’ll definitely be back.
“I have lived in Alaska for over 30 yrs and been on numerous fishing trips. The is by far the best experience ever. Captain Dan is a remarkable guy and his deckhands are top notch. When you put these 3 with the Boat Game Changer you have a amazing combination that will put fish in the Freezer. We had 10 on the boat and limited out in 4 hours. My Daughter and my grandsons that’s 8 years old had a great time and caught their first halibut. If your looking for the best look no further then Big Dan’s Charters.”
