The Summer has brought with it many fish for happy clients. We are based out of Homer, Alaska, for our Saltwater trips and have lodging and freshwater trips on the world-famous Kenai River less than 2 hours away. We host clients for a day on Kachemak Bay up to a week that includes time split between the saltwater and the fresh. We love that we can give our clients an amazing experience and are able to show them what Alaska fishing is all about.

Homer, Alaska is known as the “halibut capital of the world,” and we make sure our clients experience it. Along with halibut, we have filled the boat with rockfish, lingcod, and salmon. With such a diversity of fish in Kachemak Bay, one feels the excitement every time the line is dropped in the water. You just never know what you are going to bring up.

May is the beginning of the king salmon run. These giants make the journey back to their home streams to spawn. Here in Homer, Alaska, there is plenty of opportunity to catch kings as they make their way through Kachemak Bay. Along with king salmon, clients pull up halibut on our Alaskan halibut and salmon fishing trips. On those trips, we spend part of the day focused on the kings and the other part exploring the depths for some excellent halibut. As much as we love Alaska fishing, we know that the experience is also about relaxation and the sites. I mean, it is Alaska! So, making those moments enjoyable is just as important as catching the fish. Out at sea, you will find bean bag chairs, live music, and good times aboard our vessels, along with the fishing. I mean, who has beanbag chairs on their boats? Well, we do! We have worked hard to make our lodging feel like a home away from home. Literally, steps away from the Kenai River, you can enjoy a meal right by the riverbank, and you might even see some of the local wildlife. Last year was an excellent season for us as you can see from all the smiling faces and beautiful fish caught above. This year is on pace to be even better! Come fishing on the Kenai River and in the Homer saltwater with Big Dan’s!
