Kenai Peninsula Fishing: Big Dan’s Blog
Check out our Kenai Peninsula fishing blog for regular updates on Homer fishing reports, Kenai River fishing for salmon, tasty recipes, fishing tips and tricks, entertaining news of Homer, update on Big Dan’s Fishing Charters, expansion plans and more.
Our Kenai Peninsula fishing blog talks about the two major fisheries that Big Dan’s shares with guests each summer: our saltwater Homer trips and Kenai River guided salmon fishing. We also take guests to the Kasilof for hatchery king harvest.
Homer Fishing: Big Dan’s pretty much fishes from Homer year round with winter king fishing and crab harvesting occurring from October through March. Beginning in late April or the start of May is when Big Dan’s typically begins spring fishing for halibut and king salmon and as the season progresses rockfish and lingcod enter the mix. The bottom fishing is solid through the middle of September. Call Sarah if you would like to discuss one of our saltwater fishing packages. Combine it with a freshwater trip and lodging at our riverfront lodge.
Kenai River Fishing: Big Dan’s provides river charters for anglers seeking Kenai River king, sockeye and coho salmon and Kasilof River kings. These trips depart right from our riverfront lodge making staying with us even more convenient.
All fishing tackle and gear are provided for all of our fishing trips, as is fish filleting. We have onsite packaging available for an extra charge at the river lodge.Follow Big Dan’s on social media to learn of new blog posts you may want to check out.
